SAVE THE DATE – SABA-SD ANNUAL DINNER AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS – Saturday, October 16, 2010.  SABA-SD invites you to its annual dinner and awards ceremony to be held at the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park.  Cocktails start at 6:00 p.m. and dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.  The keynote address will be given by Magistrate Judge Vijay C. Family Fun with the Padres – Saturday, July 30, 2011.  SABA-SD, PALSD, FALSD invite you to a Padres game against the Colorado Rockies at 5:35 p.m.  We will be in the lawn section (Park Tickets) and all family members are invited!  Buy your tickets directly from the Padres at www.sandiego.padres.mlb.com or (619) 795-5000.  Park Tickets go on sale July 16th and sometimes sell out so get them soon!  Kids 36″ and shorter are free.  Please email johnnyt@sdcers.org for questions or if you are going!




June – November, 2011.  PALSD and FALSD, in collaboration with the Housing Opportunities Collaborative, invite you to a series of law classes.  These law classes are a community service program provided by Community Law School of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego and the Filipino Lawyers of San Diego. The instructors are local attorneys and judges. These classes are useful for individuals wanting to know more about the law and legal justice.  It is also for faith based and community social service counselors as well as for new practicing attorneys. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. The Minority Corporate Counsel Association is looking for nominations for the 2011 Innovator Award to be bestowed on U.S. in-house legal departments, law firms or bar associations that have led the way with innovative best practices to assist diverse attorneys in the following categories: Mentoring; Pipeline Initiative; Recruitment and Retention; LGBT Initiatives.  To be eligible to win, legal departments, law firms or legal organizations, whose membership base consists of either in-house or outside counsel, must submit a written description (no less than 500 words) summarizing a diversity program aligned with the categories listed.  All submissions must include an organization description and a logo sent as separate attachments.  All submissions must be sent electronically by August 31, 2001 to MCCA’s Director of Membership and Development at davidchu@mcca.com

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of California is accepting applications for a full-time, career law clerk position and a full-time, two-year term law clerk position in its Fresno office. The incumbent will work for a newly appointed magistrate judge and will perform substantive review, research and writing on a wide range of issues that arise in federal litigation. In addition, he or she will prepare bench memos and orders on such matters that are pending before the judge. The new magistrate judge is expected to be appointed in early October 2011. The applicant selected for this position will be expected to commence employment either on or shortly after the magistrate judge’s actual date of appointment.
