MCCA is a national organization founded in 1997 to advocate for the expanded hiring, promotion, and retention of minority attorneys in corporate legal departments and the law firms that serve them. MCCA accomplishes its mission through the collection and dissemination of research and information on diversity in the legal profession.In addition, MCCA stimulates an ongoing dialogue of diversity “best practices.”

2007 San Diego Asian Film Festival
The South Asian Bar Association and The San Diego Asian Film Foundation are proud to co-present “Vanaja” Winner of the Berlin Film Festival's Best Debut Award
Set in rural South India, a place where social barriers are built stronger than fort walls, VANAJA explores the chasm that divides classes as a young girl struggles to come of age. Vanaja (Mamatha Bhukya) is the 14 year-old daughter of a low caste fisherman, struggling with dwindling catches and mounting debt. When a sooth-sayer predicts that she will be a great dancer one day, she goes to work in the house of the local landlady, Rama Devi (Urmila Dammannagari), in hopes of learning Kuchipudi dance while earning a keep. Elimination of Bias CLE
SABA-SD will be sponsoring a continuing legal education seminar with the San Diego County Bar Association Young/New Lawyers Division (YNLD) called “Cross-Cultural Communications; Clients and Opposing Counsel from Different Backgrounds.”
The event will take place on May 30, 2007 at noon, at the San Diego County Bar Center. The seminar will feature Ruthe Ashley, Judge Lillian Y. Lim, and Judge Margie G. Woods will discuss the avoidance of unnecessary and improper biases between cultures.
